Why Visit a Filter Factory Before You Order? Five Things We Learned
What we found at a Chinese filter factory: ~100,000 part numbers, up to 100,000 filters a day, 3–7 day dispatch — and why 70% of exports go through trading companies.

In late September 2026, we visited a filter manufacturer we are considering for LANTOO's supplier network. We walked through the production and storage areas, looked at finished filters and components, and spent time talking with the team about orders. Here are five things we took away from the visit.
1. The range is much wider than we expected
The supplier says its three factories together cover close to 100,000 part numbers. Its main lines include engine filters, generator filters, passenger car filters, cabin air filters, fuel/water separators, hydraulic filters and filter elements. The catalog also shows filters for air compressors, industrial dust collection and other equipment.
The applications are just as varied: heavy trucks, construction machinery, generator sets, passenger cars, buses and forklifts, as well as some industrial equipment. We can ask the factory about replacement filters for applications associated with Cummins, Fleetguard, Komatsu, Caterpillar, Rolls-Royce, Mitsubishi, Scania, Volvo, BMW and Hino, among others. Brand names here identify the customer's equipment or reference part; they do not mean the replacement filter is made or endorsed by those brands.
Listing some hot sale part numbers as below. We check the latest specifications, application and availability before quoting. Numbers grouped in a catalog are not, on their own, proof that two filters are interchangeable. How we verify a match is covered in our cross-reference guide.

2. Production capacity helps with lead time
The factory told us its output can reach 100,000 filters per day. That scale helps explain why it can usually dispatch standard models in 3–7 days. For custom products, the lead time is generally 20–30 days.
I would still check each order before promising a date. Stock, quantity, packaging and the exact specification can all affect the schedule. But it is useful to know what the factory can normally handle when a customer has a long list of part numbers or needs filters quickly.

3. We asked where the materials come from
The supplier told us it works with established Chinese raw material suppliers. It named Wuhan Iron and Steel as a source for steel. The filter paper source is confidential. From what we have learned in our discussions, the factory uses an imported brand of filter media, but we would confirm the material specification for any particular product before presenting it as a confirmed feature.
The factory also has its own laboratory. If a buyer needs detailed technical parameters, we can request the relevant specification and test information for the model under review. That matters more than a broad claim that every filter in a large catalog has the same performance.
4. A small paint defect showed us how they handle rejects
In the workshop, we were shown a filter housing with a small area where the paint had not been applied properly. The factory treated it as a defective product. It was a simple example, but it made their quality rules easier to understand than a general statement about being "strict."
We still need to review the actual inspection requirements and test data for any product we plan to supply. What we saw on this visit gave us a useful starting point for those questions.

5. Why buyers may choose to work with us
The factory told us that around 70% of its export orders come through trading companies. That is its estimate, not a figure we have audited. During the visit, I could see why an additional point of contact can be useful: production, warehouse and finance each have their own teams and procedures. A buyer dealing directly with a large factory may need to coordinate across several departments, especially when an order includes different models, changes or special shipping instructions.
At LANTOO, we can check the part-number list, compare this factory with other suppliers, follow up on specifications and lead times, combine items where practical, and handle the export communication and shipment. We visit factories before deciding to work with them, and we choose according to the buyer's actual needs.
Buying through a trading company does not automatically mean paying more. This factory offers meaningful terms to trading partners, while our operating costs and the work involved in an order are different from the factory's. We cannot promise to beat every direct quote, but we can quote the complete order and show what is included.
We also discussed a domestic freight arrangement. For orders over USD 2,000, the factory agreed to cover the agreed freight leg within China. We will confirm the receiving point and exact terms in each quotation. International freight and destination charges are separate.
FAQs
Why don't you name the factory?
We don't publish a partner's name without written consent. What we can show per order is evidence: specification sheets, samples, batch and date codes, and test reports from the factory's own laboratory.
What does the USD 2,000 freight arrangement cover?
For orders over USD 2,000, the factory covers the agreed China-side freight leg to the receiving point stated in our quotation. International freight, customs and destination charges are separate.
How fast can this factory ship?
Standard models usually dispatch in 3–7 days; custom products generally take 20–30 days. We confirm stock, quantity and schedule for every order before promising a date.

Send Us Your List
If you have a list of replacement filters for trucks, construction machinery, cars or generator sets, send us the part numbers, equipment details and quantities. We can check the right source, the latest specifications and the delivery schedule.
